Sonia was the first Belmont to defeat Dracula and the protagonist of Castlevania: Legends for the Nintendo Game Boy. She was pulled out of the timeline by Castlevania producer Iga, but she can be reconciled with canon by thinking of her as the first one to defeat Dracula, but not the first to destroy him. She is strongly hinted to be the mother of Trevor Belmont. It is also hinted that the father may be Alucard, though this is not certain. She was slated to be one of two playable characters in the time-traveling game Castlevania: Resurrection on the Nintendo Gamecube, but that game was canceled.
